St. Marys Catholic Church

Welcome to St. Mary’s Jamesville

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jamesville, New York, is a community rich in faith, love, and history. Built in 1899, St. Mary’s has anchored the Jamesville village community for over one hundred years.

In 2007, the parishioners of St. Mary’s filed an appeal with the Vatican after the church was closed by the Diocese of Syracuse. Four years later, in May 2011, the Vatican ruled that there was no "grave" reason to close St. Mary’s, a vibrant and financially solvent Catholic community. The Vatican stated in their historic ruling that St. Mary’s must remain a church dedicated to divine worship.

Please use this website to learn about St. Mary’s Jamesville and their appeal process with the Vatican. The blog connected to this site contains the latest updates on the St. Mary’s story. Also, the St. Mary’s community meets for a prayer service every Sunday morning at 9:00 am on the sidewalk in front of St. Mary’s Church in Jamesville. Please come and join them – all are welcome!

Thank you for your support and prayers.
